Food - Bad, Good

Some psoriasis sufferer's advice to exclude the following food products from the diet:

  • fast food
  • spicy food
  • marinated food
  • fried food
  • fat food
  • smoked food
  • potato chips
  • coffee
  • chocolate
  • alcohol (especially carbonated - champagne and beer)
  • marinades (due to vinegar in marinades)
  • sodas (Coca-Cola, Pepsi, 7-Up, Orange Crush etc.)
  • sausages
  • honey
  • salt (herring, mushrooms, sauerkraut)
  • rich dough and pastry
  • citrus fruits (lemons, mandarins, oranges, limes).
  • raspberries
  • ketchup, tomato sauce

Some psoriasis sufferer's advice to add the following food products to the diet:

  • vegetables
  • fresh juices
  • porridges
  • plain yogurt
  • raisins
  • nuts
  • olive oil

The following products are open to question due to having individual effect on psoriasis sufferers:

  • potatoes
  • tomatoes
  • eggs
  • beetroot
  • red berries (currants, gooseberries, black grapes, watermelon)
  • pepper
  • eggplants
  • shellfish

Here is my advice:

Eat whatever you want but try to adhere to one rule:

After achieving remission, introduce into your diet one product from those that may be aggravating psoriasis, eat it in the course of three-four weeks, and if there is no flare-up or worsening of psoriasis, then can you can keep eating it.

Hi, Mari.

There are many other foods rich in vitamin C, other than citrus fruits.

Here, I found a great link with RDA information for each of the top 10 foods that are highest in Vit. C:

There seems to be some link between psoriasis and insufficient vitamin D. Moreover, if one is living far from the equator and not getting much sunshine and perhaps not enough vitamin C, how should one get sufficient C, naturally, without citrus fruits?
Thanks.

You are so right. Now that I am on a diet (started experimenting about 2 years ago but made it really strict a month ago), I know that in my case it’s: GLUTEN, SUGAR, and DAIRY

The one thing you omitted is sugar! Sugar is a primary food for yeast. Yeast inhibits the ability of the body to heal. P, is a break in the skin and within those breaks bacteria and yeast can thrive and inhibit healing. Gluten free is the next thing, it works!
