Fasting and Psoriasis

Fasting with the subsequent reducing diet is one of the nontraditional methods of psoriasis treatment.

The origin of the short term fasting for the purpose of strengthening of health relates to the days of ancient Greece and some ancient civilizations of the Far East.

A large number of distinguished medics of the past century have also mentioned the idea of "healthy fasting". Nowadays there are also many supporters of the nontraditional methods of psoriasis treatment with the use of various methods, which increases general immunity of the body, including the method of therapeutic fasting, conducted under the observation of experienced doctors.

There are 3 types of Fasting:

  1. Fasting due to forced malnutrition, when a human consumes some negligibly small quantity of food. Even this negligibly small quantity of food does not make it possible for the body to activate the internal (endogenous) feeding mode. This type of fasting occurred in the Nazi concentration camps and during natural disasters. This type involves a consumption of limited foods. Such fasting (forced or used by a person for weight reduction) frequently leads to dystrophy of the internal organs.
  2. Mammal fasting is a state of hibernation during the winter (rare - summer). The body of animals in the state of hibernation switches to valuable internal feeding mode. Before entering hibernation most animals eat large amounts of food and store energy in fat deposits in order to survive the winter. During this period the body of an animal very economically expends its fat deposits. At this period of time they operate on the main principles of therapeutic fasting. In nature this is very important for the survival of certain species. Prolonged immobility in the course of many months per year caused by the hibernation in animals is of course unacceptable for treating humans.
  3. Fasting for health. This fasting involves complete abstention from the consumption of food while being awake and somewhat functioning. This type of fasting ensures the switching of the body to a valuable internal feeding mode. This is called therapeutic fasting, valuable endogenous fasting or fasting diet therapy.

Healthy fasting helps restore the work of the immunogenetic apparatus of a human. Sometimes therapeutic fasting is called the "health-improvement of each body cell".
