Unsaturated fat
Unsaturated fatty acids have double bonds in their chains (MonoUnsaturated Non-Essential fatty acids - 1 double bond; PolyUnsaturated Essential fatty acids - 2 or more double bonds).
Unsaturated fat has 3 main subcategories: Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9.
What's the difference between them? Is anyone of them good for psoriasis? Do we get enough of each one of them in our diet?
All three Unsaturated Fatty Acids: Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 possess benefits for psoriasis.
Some of the Fatty Acids work better when applied topically, others work wonders when added in the right proportions to the diet. Due to slight molecular differences each of the Omega Fatty Acids works in its own way.
Dietary Intake of the Unsaturated Fats:
Unsaturated fat can get saturated by something else when inside our bodies, i.e. it can get saturated by bad cholesterol in order to remove it from our bodies.
Topical Application of the Unsaturated Fats:
Each of the Unsaturated Omega Fatty Acids possesses beneficial affects for psoriasis, when applied topically.
Let's go into more detail about how people with psoriasis may benefit from each of the Omega Fatty Acids.
