Dr Pagano Psoriasis Diet

Dr Pagano Psoriasis Diet heals psoriasis "from within", and not "from the outside". John Pagano proposes a well structured natural method, substantiated by his more than 40-years of practice and experience. Dr Pagano Psoriasis Diet and Method are  safer than other methods in a lot of ways, as they use only the natural means. The method and diet are hard to stick to, but if you do - you will most likely achieve a long-term remission!

We are what we eat... This wise saying pertains to people with psoriasis in a great degree. Psoriasis is an old and mysterious disease, but even the ancient healers noticed the influence of the food and beverages on the state of the skin of people with psoriasis. One of the first people, who have derived his own system based on the influence of food on psoriasis, was John O.A. Pagano.

John Pagano is a chiropractic physician, a specialist who got his degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Pagano has been treating people with psoriasis with an "all natural" method for forty years. His book, HEALING PSORIASIS: The Natural Alternative was originally published in 1991 and has been on best seller lists from 1998 through the present. Dr Pagano Psoriasis Diet has received a wide acceptance throughout the whole world.

What is the essence of his system? In brief, doctor Pagano believes that bowel toxins are the reason for psoriasis. The bowels can't manage the toxins, and so the toxins percolate into the circulatory and lymphatic systems. John calls this "the syndrome of a non-hermetic bowel". The liver and kidneys also cannot neutralize the toxins, and so the skin becomes the "last cleansing resort".

A number of studies show that bowel permeability in people with psoriasis is 1.5-2 times more than the standard one. Intercellular distance in the bowels is increased, which allows the non-digested particles and the intestinal microflora to get into the blood and lymph, and then exit through the skin (forming psoriatic plaques).

Let's overview the reasons for the disrupted work of bowels, and Pagano's regimen itself:

Why do our bowels stop managing one of their main functions - the secretory function? There are actually many reasons: constipation, bad diet, insufficient water consumption, spinal disorders, stress, heredity, and some others. The negative factors increase the amount of body toxins, increase blood acidity, etc.

In Pagano's book (HEALING PSORIASIS: The Natural Alternative) the possible reasons for damaged intestinal walls are enumerated; this facilitates "the syndrome of a non-hermetic bowel":

  • antibiotics (increase the pathologic flora in the bowels by damaging the useful flora)
  • alcohol and caffeine (potent bowel irritants)
  • foods and beverages contaminated with parasites
  • chemicals in processed foods
  • enzyme deficiency
  • corticosteroids
  • diet high in carbohydrates
  • mycotoxins (toxins produced by fungus, mushrooms, molds and yeasts)

We can also add: chronic constipation, saturated fats, Solanaceae/Potato family vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, chili peppers, tobacco, and eggplants), smoking, spinal disorders, and negative emotions (anger, fear, and anxiety).

Consequently, in order to heal psoriasis Dr Pagano Psoriasis Diet advises to:

  1. clean the toxins out of the body
  2. stop adding new toxins into the body

In order to reach these 2 goals John Pagano Psoriasis Diet Necessitates the following:

  1. internal cleansing
  2. nourishing/cleansing diet
  3. herbal teas
  4. spinal cord therapy
  5. external means

Update: following are my personal psoriasis diet tips. I have seen a distinct correlation between what I’m eating and the state of my psoriasis. My “psoriasis diet treatment” is simple – avoiding anything made of dough. This includes: breads, toasts, sandwiches, pies, pizzas, cakes, cookies, pancakes, brownies, muffins, donuts, crackers, biscuits, croissants, bagels, pastry, etc. This also includes dumplings and anything else made of dough. In my case, yeast seems to be the culprit. I’m fine when I eat muesli and any types of grains.

As soon as I start eating something made of dough, I see the following: my nail psoriasis starts to get worse and hurt, my scalp becomes irritated and flaky, and my body psoriasis starts to cover with a thick crust. I wouldn’t call my “psoriasis diet plan” a cure; however, it does help me keep my p. to a minimum. Plus, dieting this way is good for weight loss – I have a perfect weight now.

I believe that psoriasis diet cure is possible but hard to stick to. Anyway, thanks for reading my tips, and if you are interested – look into psoriasis diet recipes on this site, as well as the psoriasis diet book by John Pagano.
