Masturbation and Sex

Psoriasis of the penis and penis glans psoriasis are a very common problem, but it's not too often discussed. Men who have psoriasis on their penis usually have it on the very end of their penis (penile glans or penis head), as well as on their penis shaft. This area is actually prone to developing psoriasis, because of the so-called Koebner effect. Koebner effect is when psoriasis appears on the areas of skin, which get a lot of friction. Koebner effect can naturally be caused by the local skin trauma during sexual intercourse. In this case sexual intercourse serves as the trigger of the Koebner phenomena.

If you have a bad outbreak of psoriasis of the penis, your sexual enjoyment may be hindered by the discomfort and irritation if you have sex or masturbate without lubrication and a condom. While I would not advise anyone to stop having sex or stop masturbating in order to better manage their psoriasis of the penis and penis glans psoriasis, but I would suggest using a lubricant and a condom during masturbation and intercourse.

Try to apply a thick layer of lubricant and use a condom during every intercourse, and even during masturbation. A lubricant will soothe your skin and make you better enjoy yourself, and the condom will help to protect the skin of your penis from traumatic skin irritation and fiction.

However, if you're planning on an intercourse with an unknown sexual partner, you should not use a thick layer of lubricant with just any condom. Oil-based lubricants under the condom are especially dangerous, because many condoms are not meant to be used with an oil-based lubricant, which may damage them.

There are special brands of condoms, which can be safely used with an oil-based lubricant or any kind of lubricant. All you need to do is ask in your local pharmacy for the best type of condom for the use with a lubricant.

Psoriasis of the penis and penis glans psoriasis are very unpleasant, but it can be managed and successfully treated (please look in the Penis Psoriasis Treatment section for the treatment information).
