No-Nos - Penis Psoriasis and Scrotum Psoriasis - What Should be Avoided?

There are several treatments that you might want to avoid for your penis psoriasis and scrotum psoriasis treatment.

1. Laser Treatment

UVB lasers are used to get rid of localized psoriatic plaques. UVB lasers use ultraviolet B light, just like UVB lamps. However, the beam in this case is very concentrated, and it may easily burn tender skin, causing blisters, etc.

2. Methotrexate, Cyclosporine, and other Systemics

Systemics are special medicines that are administered intravenously or orally in some cases. These medications are known to be used for severe psoriasis, as well as bad psoriatic flare-ups. If you only have psoriasis on some spots in your genital area, and not the whole are covered with psoriasis, it is better not to try systemics.

In fact, it's better to try biologics (which are generally also administered intravenously or orally), instead of general systemics. Methothrexate and Cyclosporine are known to possess horrible side-effects, including liver and kidney damage.
