As you can see from these scalp psoriasis pictures, this location is one of the worst. Psoriasis on the scalp may look as though you have dandruff. It does not look good on the ears and hairline...

In my case, scalp psoriasis was one of the last to start. First I got p. on my elbows, knees, and body. A few years later, it migrated onto the scalp as well. I've always enjoyed wearing my hair in a ponytail, until my scalp p. started; during my last few years at school I had to "let my hair down"  :)  As you can see from my photograph on the very top (where is says BIO), I still don't wear my hair up.

People try different things to treat scalp psoriasis, such as tar, UVB, apple cider vinegar, and others. Tar was too irritating for me, but many other people had good results with it. I have had good results with UVB brush, but the problem is that it takes a lot of time. You need to brush your hair with the lamp for 10-20 minutes almost every day for a month or so. Then you need to maintain it... I have heard that Doo Gro helps psoriasis on the scalp; you can find a page on my site about it - just use the search on top. I personally did not try Doo Gro.

If you have something that helps your scalp psoriasis, or you would like to share your pictures of scalp psoriasis, please comment here or send the pics to my email (in the BIO section). Thank you. Good luck to us all!

my son has had skin problem since birth,I think it is an internal issue and we are working on diet changes, organic food only, no sugar, there has to be a root cause, I am starting to use essential oils,in my book it says for psoriasis,2 drops roman chamomile and 2 drops of lavender~ ONLY use good oils I buy them through doTerra. I also use Miracle II products soap and gel,I use a homemade salve with oil from calendula blossoms, pure beeswax and golden seal all biodynamically grown which really helps alot.drink clean water, good minerals. we have also seen a natural doctor.my son does not have psoriasis but he has candida and it can get flaky and red.and he has had it for two years, I pray to God for it to be healed. I have to work on his head everyday :) Good luck I hope this helps!

I have psoriasis/seborrhea dermatitis. I learned from my dermatologist that MOST shampoos have a chemical named ammonium laureth sulfate(or similar derivations) for making suds, BUT it causes my scalp to itch a lot! I now use AQUAGE brand shampoo which is available through my beauty shop. It says right on the bottle "sulfate free". It has reduced the itch a lot, but it does not stop the scale, redness, sores, and some itching from the psoriasis. I have tried Aubry brand, but did not care for it at all.
My dermatologist has me using DHS ZINC SHAMPOO, which I purchase at Costco's pharmacy. 30-45 minutes before I get in the shower, I wet my hair/scalp and apply the DHS, and scrub my scalp real well. It works MUCH better this way rather than just a few minutes application in the shower. It calms the psoriasis quite a bit this way. I do this 1-2 times per week, and in between I use the AQUAGE shampoo. Some days I just rinse my hair with warm water rather than shampooing.
Also, my dermatologist gave me a script for an ointment named MUPIROCIN, which she said is good for staff infection. She says we all have it on our skin all the time. Well, THIS has helped tremendously when I put the ointment directly on the sore spots on my scalp!! I put it on each sore spot lightly at night before I go to bed. Usually the tenderness is gone or greatly reduced the next day. If not, I reapply. The results are so good that I don't use the DHS shampoo as frequently.

Diet and stress seem to play a big role in how often and severe the outbreaks become. SUGAR is the main culprit for me! Sugar causes an increase in YEAST production in our body.

If you don't get the MUPIROCIN right away, the over-the-counter TRIPLE-ANTIBIOTIC will work too, just not as well.

I have been suffering from psoriasis for years. I recently started researching for ideas to try and get rid of it. I use baby oil on my head. I saturate my head in baby oil, then put a shower cap on. I let it sit for about 5-6 hours and then get someone to take a comb and gently scape it off. I know sounds gross but it helps for a while. It doesn't make it go away, but it does make some of it go away for a while and it helps with the itching. My scalp gets really bad and it gets painful. If anyone ever finds a cure i would love to know about it.

Betamethasone cream works great. It takes only a little bit. I had even been able to use it on my scalp every other day with results to the point I could wear my hair up in a ponytail again. This med does require a prescription but is well worth it.
