Alcohol and Psoriasis? Bad combination...
Alcohol, and especially its frequent use can provoke psoriasis or psoriatic flare ups. This is especially true for beer and champagne (I guess it's the bubbles in them...), as well as strong alcoholic beverages.
Alcohol intoxication contributes to the expansion of psoriasis, complications, frequent flare ups, as well as shortened remissions. People suffering from alcoholism also suffer from a more intensive itch with psoriasis.
Psoriasis is revealed only in 1% of those who do not consume alcohol, and in 5% of those who drink alcoholic beverages. The frequency of psoriasis in chronic alcoholics exceeds 4-7 times the rates of psoriasis among the rest of the population. In about 50% of adults with psoriasis, psoriasis appeared for the first time with a systematic alcohol abuse. Alcohol abuse also limits the chances of a successful psoriasis treatment.
So, if you have psoriasis remember: alcohol and psoriasis don't go together... Try to abstain from alcoholic beverages even in small quantities, and especially try to avoid hopfests or anything else that has to do with large amounts of alcohol.
