Uric Acid
Uric Acid was first discovered in 1776 in urine (thus its name). Uric Acid is also found in the brain, liver, blood and sweat of a human.
People with psoriasis have a 20-30% higher level of the Uric Acid in their blood serum, than the people without psoriasis.
Studies show that:
- There is no relationship between the high levels of Uric Acid and the extent of the psoriatic lesions (i.e. even those people with psoriasis, who do not have any external psoriasis manifestations, also have high levels of Uric Acid in their bodies).
- The levels of the Uric Acid in the people with psoriasis are higher due to a genetic predisposition.
About 5-8% of the Earth population has abnormally high levels of Uric Acid.
