Castor oil psoriasis remedies are known to help many psoriasis sufferers, especially with scalp psoriasis treatment, but also with the skin and the nail psoriasis treatment.
Castor oil is obtained from castor beans. Castor plant, even though it has beans, is not a member of a bean family. Castor beans visually resemble chestnuts.
Castor oil has no odor or taste, and it looks pale or light yellow.
Cold pressed Castor oil uses in folk medicine include skin disorders, burns, cuts, inflammatory skin conditions, skin eruptions and lesions.
So what is so special about Castor oil?
-
Castor oil has up to 95% of Ricinoleic acid - Castor oil is the only oil with such a high content of this acid. Topical Ricinoleic acid possesses a high anti-inflammatory effect.
- Castor oil, like no other oil, penetrates deep into the skin thanks to its very-very low molecular weight.
Castor oil, or a Castor oil derivative, is added to many modern drugs, including two immunosuppressive drugs used for psoriasis treatment: Sandimmune and Tacrolimus.
NOTE! Castor oil psoriasis remedies should not be used internally!

Castor oil Pack for Skin Psoriasis
A Castor oil pack is made by saturating a piece of a wool flannel in Castor oil, then putting it on the affected psoriasis area and placing a heat source, such as a hot water bottle, on top of the pack.
This is a remedy, suggested to treat many ailments by the American alleged psychic Edgar Cayce in the 1900s.
Making the Castor oil Pack
- Take a piece of a wool flannel, put it in a bowl and pour Castor oil on it. Keep the flannel in the bowl until it is well-saturated (but it should not be dripping when you use it).
- The size you want for use is the same size as your hot water bottle, so that the bottle heats the whole pack, but does not touch your skin.
- After each use, you will probably need to add a little more Castor oil onto the pack.
Using the Castor oil Pack
- Use the pack in the evening, before bed. Spread out a large plastic garbage bag on the bed so that the Castor oil won't leak onto the bed.
- Place the hot water bottle into a disposable plastic bag, so you can just through the bag away once you are done with it.
- Place the pack onto the affected psoriasis area.
- Put the hot water bottle (placed into a disposable plastic bag) on top of the pack. The hot water bottle should be very warm, but not so hot it burns you.
- Keep the pack on for 1 hour.
- After, take a bath or a shower with soap to wash the Castor oil off the skin.
Repeat the procedure a few times a week.
Internal Use
Internal use of Castor oil is very dangerous (unless you are using it as prescribed and for the treatment of constipation.)
Large quantities of Castor oil, if ingested, will make a person vomit and have diarrhea, causing a severe dehydration of the body.
