Researching the Genetic Psoriasis
One of the "pure" ways of researching the genetics of an illness is the observation of twins. In some twins psoriasis begins and disappears simultaneously. The coincidences of psoriasis development are more frequently found in identical twins, which can serve as a proof of the genetic theory.
There are cases, when a person develops psoriasis. They search for psoriasis in the genealogical tree and they do not find it. After a certain time some relative also develops psoriasis. This is hardly a coincidence. The disease must have been in the family, simply they did not know about it. Genetic factors in this case are obvious.
One of the methods of studying the genetics of psoriasis is the scientific study of fingerprints (arrangement of lines and elevations of the skin of the fingers). According to the obtained data, in the people with psoriasis there is revealed the following: less frequent two-loop locks and arcs on the finger cushions and more frequent figured intensity in comparison with the control group and also the relatives without psoriasis manifestations.
Genetic Psoriasis Will Appear if...
There were researched more than 1000 patients with genetic psoriasis. In these patients they researched the data of their close and distant relatives. In a number of cases psoriasis was found in three generations in a row, but in the fourth generation it was not found.
Is it merely the genetics? Why some people did get psoriasis and others did not? I believe that the answer is: in some cases the circumstances corresponded to the appearance of psoriasis and in other cases they did not.
For example in one case both parents had psoriasis but their son never developed it. In early childhood the son left his parents home and moved in with his grandmother. Could that have been the reason why he did not develop psoriasis?
Conclusion
According to Genetic Psoriasis Theory inherited is the so-called latent psoriasis, i.e. the genetically transferred predisposition to psoriasis development. Genetic Psoriasis Theory is nowadays the most reliable psoriasis theory.
Nevertheless, psoriasis can not be considered a purely genetic disease due to the multiple inherited factors. Psoriasis is encountered very frequently, and therefore the presence of psoriasis in relatives is not always connected with the genetic factors.
There is yet no way to decrease the risk of the genetic psoriasis transfer, although it may happen in the future with the development of genetic engineering.
The provoking factors should be avoided by the people with the predisposition to psoriasis in order to minimize the risk of Psoriasis Appearance. Healthy lifestyle, healthy diet, and eliminating stress may help people with genetic psoriasis not to develop skin psoriasis symptoms.
