Infection and Psoriasis - infection can cause the Appearance of Psoriasis or the Psoriatic Flare Up. This is often noted in children and people with a chronic infection, such as a chronic tonsillitis.
Tonsils are two oval masses of lymph tissue located in the back of the throat. Tonsils help the body to fight virus and bacteria infection. If the bacteria or a virus enters our body through the mouth or the nose, tonsils are the first to try to fight it. Tonsillitis is the inflammation of the tonsils caused by a viral or bacterial infection.
Among other infections the infection in the tonsils (tonsillitis) has the greatest influence on the Appearance and the Flare Ups of psoriasis.
There are many cases of obtaining a therapeutic effect with psoriasis after the removal of the tonsils (tonsillectomy).
In some people in the state of psoriatic remission an infection can sometimes lead to an acute Psoriatic Flare Up.
Other infections can also become a source of the bacteria toxemia (blood poisoning by bacteria) and also can provoke psoriasis:
- Strep Throat (streptococcal infection of the throat);
- The Flu (aka influenza - viral infection of the respiratory tract);
- Teeth Infections (i.e. bacteria originating from tooth decay, gum diseases etc.);
- Cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder, often caused by gallstones);
- Sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses - the small air cavities in the skull, lined by mucous membranes);
- Otitis (viral or bacterial inflammation of the ear);
- Chlamydial Infection (bacterial infection of the urinary tract or the reproductive tract);
- Scarlet Fever (an infectious disease that occurs mainly in children and is characterized by a fever and a sore throat);
- and others.
Generally, people with psoriasis are more sensitive to the streptococcal and the staphylococcal infection, than people without psoriasis.
It is proven that the Guttate Psoriasis (drop-like) is usually caused by the highly virulent streptococcal infection. In 55% of people with psoriasis the tests revealed some kind of a streptococcus infection (often chronic).
Therefore you should try to avoid infections for both - Psoriasis Prevention and the Psoriatic Flare Up Prevention.
Vaccinations (aka inoculations) may also become a Psoriasis Risk Factor. This is because the vaccination is actually the introduction of a small quantity of a weakened bacteria or virus into the body of a human being.
