Psoriasis Management is a life-long thing. Psoriasis is a chronic disease; therefore the first thing in the management of psoriasis is learning how to live with it.
Having for the first time heard the "psoriasis" diagnosis, people feel horror because psoriasis at present can not be completely cured...
The worst part of psoriasis is its explicit external manifestations. Because of that people with psoriasis sometimes may become the object of stares (especially little children).
A lot of time passes until you accept psoriasis, learn to live with it and to manage it.
Several Tips, which should help in Psoriasis Management:
- learn as much as possible about psoriasis - the studies indicate that the quality of life of a person with psoriasis is directly connected with their knowledge about psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis;
- learn to tell other people about psoriasis briefly and intelligibly. Explain that psoriasis is a genetic immune disorder and it is NOT Contagious;
- do not hide your feelings about psoriasis from your friends and family; instead let them know about it;
- associate (personally or on the Internet) with other people with psoriasis;
- find a good doctor, whom you can entrust.
If you feel that on your own you are not succeeding in the management of psoriasis, you should try to turn to a psychotherapist.
The mental state of the people with psoriasis remains poorly studied. Meanwhile understanding the psychosomatic (influenced by psychological or emotional factors) interrelations in the people with psoriasis can contribute to a higher effectiveness of psoriasis treatment.
Thus, in the people with psoriasis compared to other people there are revealed a higher frequency of anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and social maladjustment.
Furthermore, various tests (i.e. the Luscher Color Test etc.) testify about the possible "special personality features", which may predispose to the development of psoriasis.
Improving your mental state and learning about psoriasis will be very beneficial for the psoriasis management.
