Stress and Psoriasis

Stress and Psoriasis - stress caused by loosing a loved one, by a car accident, serious surgery, getting fired etc., i.e. a sudden strong stress or a prolonged strong stress, often contributes to Psoriasis Appearance or to the appearance of a Psoriatic Flare Up.

Psoriasis has the most direct relation to the saying that "all illnesses come from the stress". Stress causes multiple biochemical and immunological reactions, which lead to the Appearance of Psoriasis in the people predisposed to it; or to Psoriatic Flare Ups in the people with psoriasis.

Psoriasis for the first time appeared in the majority of people soon after a major sudden or prolonged stress. According to the research data, at least 50% of people with psoriasis said it was the stress that provoked psoriasis.

Stress is the major Psoriasis Risk Factor.

Hello Mrs. B. Henry,

I am really sorry to hear about your daughter. I got my psoriasis when I was 13-14.

There is hope. Psoriasis in Children (especially Guttate psoriasis - small, red, drop-like spots which cover large portions of the skin) can go away on its own after a few months. However, it may also not go away, and can sometimes transform into the common Plaque psoriasis.

If it's possible to change your daughter's diet, you may want to look into John Pagano's diet, developed for psoriasis:

You may also want to consider UVB - it's my favorite treatment method. It is just like suntanning, but with little to no chance of any skin malignancies. UVB is also suitable for children.

Here are the links with information about UVB:

I sincerely wish luck to you and your little daughter! Don't lose hope, there are lots of treatments to try, and some of them will definitely help!

My 7 year old daughter is the one with psoriasis and she is traumatized by it. I am trying all methods possible to treat it. It actual appeared after I was in a auto accident two days before Christmas. It has changed its appearance in so many ways. At some points it seems to go away or look like its going away, but it comes right back. I believe hers is definitely stress related and what she eats. We need help with this problem!
