Psoriasis of the Mucous Membranes is encountered in a very small number of people with psoriasis (a couple percent).
Psoriasis lesions in this case appear in the mouth and on the tongue, on the gums, inside the cheeks, inside the nose or on the lips.
Lesions are usually white or gray. Papules are slightly raised and covered with whitish mucous debris, which is easily removed by scraping. After the removal of the mucous debris there appears a vivid red surface on the mucous membrane with the point hemorrhage (bleeding).
Psoriasis of the Mucous Membranes symptoms can be relatively uncomfortable, and can cause difficulty when chewing or swallowing.
Psoriasis of the eye is extremely rare but dangerous. The symptoms include inflammation, dryness and discomfort. Psoriasis of the eye may impair vision.
