As always with psoriasis, it can be hard to find a psoriasis shampoo that works for you. First, you need to know the essential ingredients to look for – the ingredients that are capable of eliminating the scales on your scalp and slowing down the production of new scales. Slowing down your scalp psoriasis can even stop your hair from falling out.
Two major ingredients to look for in shampoos are Tar and Salicylic Acid. Shampoos with Salicylic acid will help you remove the scales; shampoos with Tar should help you slow your scalp psoriasis down.
You may also want to look into Tea Tree Oil shampoos – many people swear by them. Instead of purchasing Tea Tree Oil shampoo, you can just buy Tea Tree Oil and add it to your regular shampoo.
Other than shampoos, many people have also benefited from Doo Gro oil, Castor oil applications, and Apple Cider Vinegar applications. I really like the effect of a UVB light brush on my scalp, and that is what I use the most.
Since your scalp is already bothered you don’t want to use anything on it that will burn or further irritate it. Try to avoid the shampoos that “sting” and make sure you read the bottle and find out what the other ingredients are. Some of these products are simply too harsh for us. When you use Tar shampoos, avoid leaving it on for longer than prescribed – it can do more bad than good.
It is important to understand that it can take months before you get the results from your psoriasis shampoo. You need to make sure you commit to the time it will take to make it happen. Don’t give up, try different shampoos and methods, and you should find something that works for you.
