UVB vs. Psoriasis Biologics - Cost

UVB is much cheaper than many of the psoriasis treatments.

Psoriasis treatments are expensive... The treatments are usually used for years and years, which sometimes makes the costs of the treatment outrageous.

For example, currently the yearly cost of Psoriasis Biologics treatment may lie anywhere in the range of 10,000-20,000 USD (7,000-14,000 EUR)... Who can afford anything like that?

Other treatments are cheaper but still..

Home Unit UVB Cost

The amazing thing about UVB lamps for psoriasis is that you can buy a unit, pay for it once - and then use it for about 10 years. The manufacturer of the UVB brush for scalp psoriasis which I bought for about $300 claims that, the UVB bulbs in the unit will last for about 10 years of home use by a single person.

$300: 10 years = $30 per year

I can definitely afford $30 per year for my psoriasis treatment.

$30 per year for a psoriasis UVB lamp is nothing compared to $10,000 per year for biologics!

I must admit that a psoriasis UVB lamp that covers your whole body costs much more... I have just looked it up - a price of a Six Foot Narrow Band UVB lamp for psoriasis for home use ranges from $2,000 to $3,000.

$2,000: 10 years = $200 per year

I will probably also be able to afford $200 for my psoriasis treatment some day.

$10,000 per year for biologics? Probably not. Especially considering their side-effects...

Doctors Office UVB Cost

The price per a UVB treatment at a doctors office will range anywhere from $5 to $10.

It's still not that much compared to other psoriasis treatments.
